Capt. Valentine Pyne. Originally a ship's gunner; Master-Gunner (Ordinance Board) 1668-77. He had long been deputy to his predecessor, Col. James Wemyss, and had exected the office since about 1665 in Wemyss's absence. In July 1668 he was granted £71 p.a. in recognition of his distinguished service in the war.
