According to information at the L.D.S. (Mormon) ‘Family Search’ site Barbara (Bab) Pepys was born in 1645 probably at Impington, Cambridge, England.
She married Thomas Gale D.D in 1671. He became Dean of York Cathedral.

Barbara & Thomas Gale had eleven children, but it appears only four reached adulthood.

Getting married and starting such a large family at 26 was very late for those days. Pepys usually mades unkind comments about spinsters, but not this time.
