Are we sure that Ferrers was married as early as 1661? (See reference below.) Because in November 1661 he was escorting Mademoiselle Le Blanc to the theatre (the Montagu's French governess) in the company of Samuel and Elizabeth Pepys, who would not have associated openly with a man's mistress.
