James Hoare, jun. (d. 1685), followed in the footsteps of his father, James Hoare, sen., as gold merchant and royal mint employee. The son was co-Comptroller of the Mint with his father after 1662; founded Hoare's Bank with his cousin Richard Hoare in 1673; and, during the suspension of Master of the Mint Henry Slingsby, served as one of three Commissioners of the Mint 1680-84 and 1684 until his death. http://www.history.ac.uk/office/m…
