Ensum [Robert]. Of Ellington, Hunts.; a nephew of Lewis Phillips ( http://www.pepysdiary.com/encyclo… ) the lawyer; son of Matthew Ensum. An unsuccessful suitor for Pal's hand, and 'brother-in-law' (? step-brother) of the successful suitor John Jackson. Jackson succeeded him in the lease of Ellington Parsonage. He died possessed of substantial property, but to Pepys he was a 'clowne.' His will was signed in March 1666 and proved in June 1667.
