Thank you so much Phil, for reminding us of the rules re annotations being on topic and useful in understanding the Diary and the time in which it was written. I can’t remember the number of times over the years that I’ve had to skip certain long entries of tedious imaginary dialogue which added nothing to the discussion.

My husband has Newfoundland roots and he always makes a “pease pudding” whenever he has a boiled dinner , (called a Jigg’s dinner in NL). It’s basically a corned beef and cabbage dinner along with a chicken or turkey. The pease pudding consists of yellow split peas tied up in a cotton bag and boiled along with the other ingredients for several hours.
