Excuse me but, are all references to his sexual dalliances excised from this series? When I read the Diary in book form he was always fooling around thus the inflammation of vesicles on one of his, ahem, privy parts.

I took the fee to mean he was able to speak if Pepys was a client. The "fee" made it legit perhaps?

Sam Pepys was a serial philanderer. I guess he suspected his wife because of his own guilt. It would not surprise me to learn she died of a venereal disease courtesy of her Dear Samuel.
