Dr Thomas Reade (d. 1669). A civil lawyer; D.C.L. (Oxon.) 1638. 'A most noted royalist' (Wood), he served in the force raised by the university. The King made him Principal of Magdalen Hall 1643-6. He became a Roman Catholic during the Interregnum and after the Restoration was surrogate for Sir William Merrick in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
