Per L& M Companion:

kt. 1661 (c. 1612 - 86). Clerk of the Kitchen under Charles I; Chief Clerk 1660; younger Clerk Comptroller of the Household 1661; elder Clerk 1664; junior clerk of the Green Cloth, 1680. He had a house and property in Greenwich, and found the Green Coat School there in 1672.

Apparently responsible for the construction of the great Terrace at the Blackheath end of Greenwich Park and the planting of the elms in 1664 to Le Notre's design. See, Feb 06.:-
