MY LORD
I have (not without much importunity) got Mr Scott to go speak with Mrs Crew. All that hath yet been done in the business is to know his demands which is a hundred pounds for his skill and pains in the cure, which he hopes to effect in three months. My Lady Wright intends suddenly to enquire the manner and rate of his entertainment from the friends of some of his patients. Both the ladies did consult the lessening of that expense and the avoiding of some worse inconveniences which will attend her lodging at his house, and to that end spoke to me concerning mine as being near to him (which I would most willingly wish might be thought serviceable to her) but he insists upon her being at his, because of her often dressing, and his practice too so great, as that he never stirs abroad to any. My Lady Wright will be speedy in her enquiry and so acquaint your Lordship with her determinations and Mrs Crew’s herein.
Hitherto there hath been a mixed council (some or other of the Parliamenters still sitting amongst them) but all things are hatched at the Admiralty chamber, where the Army-officers sit. They determined last night of this list to make up the council. People talk now very boldly of the resolution the Kings of France and Spain have taken to assist the King of Scots, and that an envoy is expected with their proposals to us concerning him.
My Lord
Your Lordship’s dutiful servant

I sent an account of the bills this week by Beard.
