On 11 March 2019, Gresham College in London have a lecture called Gresham’s Bequest to Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn. From the website:
The valuable bequest of Sir Thomas Gresham to the development of scientific interest in seventeenth-century England can be traced through the testimony of Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn - not only great diarists but also ‘particular friends’.
No reservations are required for this lecture. It will be run on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Doors will open 30 minutes before the start of the lecture
The lecture will be given by Margaret Willes who recently wrote a book about Pepys and Evelyn.
While on the site I noticed that Gresham College have an archive of previous lectures available to be watched as video. Some that might be of interest:
- Samuel Pepys the Guitarist
- 1665: London’s Last Great Plague
- The Private Diary and Public History
- Music from the Samuel Pepys Collection
Thanks to San Diego Sarah for noticing the Pepys and Evelyn lecture.
