Standard Ebooks is a volunteer-run project to create free ebooks with high standards of typography, formatting and accessibility, readable on a number of devices. They recently released an edition of The Diary, by Samuel Pepys so if you have an ebook reader of some kind you might want to download it so you always have a copy with you.
They use the same copyright-free version of the diary that we use on this site (originally prepared in 1893), as opposed to the slightly more complete and annotated version from the 1970s by Latham & Matthews, but that should be good enough for most situations — and it’s free! They estimate it will take you 73 hours and 20 minutes to read its 1,209,950 words…
